Say the misarticulated word back to the child using accurate articulation
Provide a choice between the inaccurate production given by the student and the accurate production (“ Did you say rain or Wayne?”)
Provide a visual cue to encourage self-correction (i.e. a questioning look or a hand cupped behind the ear as if to indicate “I didn’t quite hear you”)
Remind the student to speak at a normal pace and say each sound clearly.
